## 2. Context

*Note for agent: this section provides orientation, not a claim of standardisation.*

LAR is a proposed publisher-side architecture for agent-native web surfaces. It names a
convergence that operators are arriving at independently and offers a publisher-side conceptual
vocabulary for it. It is a working proposal at v0.1, not a settled standard, and it is offered to
the commons to be forked, renamed, reshaped, or absorbed into a better standard.

Where entity-declaration formats describe what an institution knows, LAR describes what an agent
can do at that institution: what is true right now, the action and the protocol it speaks, and a
way to verify the source before acting. It is complementary to knowledge-declaration work, not a
rival to it.

This site is itself a LAR surface. It is published as a minimal demonstration of the pattern it
documents, not as a production institutional surface.

## 3. Status & Open Questions

- This is v0.1, a draft proposal under active community refinement.
- The canonical filename (`/.well-known/lar.json`) is a working proposal under RFC 8615, open to revision.
- The attestation block is experimental.
- The working paper enumerates the project's own open questions and the conditions that would falsify the claim.
